MISSION

Our Mission

Rewilding our ecosystem so that Mother Nature can re-blossom, that is what we aim for. We do so  in three ways:

Atmosphere

NGE fights for cleaner air.

We strive for less carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and other industrial emissions. Human sources such as the burning of fossil fuels or the excessive consumption of meat, contribute to climate change.

Greenhouse gas emissions have a negative environmental impact, such as air pollution. CO2 captures solar heat which creates ground-level ozone; this hinders the earth from cooling down overnight, causing the global temperatures to rise.

Did you know that the agricultural sector contributes significantly to global warming? The fertilisation of land causes high greenhouse gas emissions which has an increased impact on global warming.

8 million tons

OF PLASTIC END UP IN OCEANS EVERY YEAR

50 billion tons

OF MELTED ICE EVERY MONTH

6 million tons

OF CO2 EMITTED IN OUR ATMOSPHERE EVERY DAY

30 football fields

OF TREES LOST EVERY MINUTE

Land

NGE fights for reforestation.

As a consequence of human activity, hundreds and thousands of animals and plant species rapidly loose their habitat because of deforestation. This makes way for agriculture, palm oil plantations and infrastructure development.

Deforestation leads to further greenhouse gas emissions, less water in the atmosphere, soil erosion, and the ruining of the land that is home to indigenous people.

Did you know that every single minute, close to 30 football fields worth of trees are lost due to deforestation? Our need for agriculture accounts for 80% of deforestation.

Water

NGE fights for a healthy water biodiversity.

We strive for less polluted waters. Global warming and greenhouse gas emissions contribute to the melting of ice sheets, and the acidity of the oceans. Occurrences such as coastal floodings, rising sea levels, and the disappearance of shellfish and coral reefs alter the waters eco-systems. Consequently, the biodiversity found in oceans and seas is affected immensely.

Plastic also poses a threat to the biodiversity of our seas and oceans. Millions of plastics are dumped in our waters every year due to the excessive usage of single-use plastics. This plastic breaks down into microplastics, which is even more difficult to clean up.

Did you know that our marine species are endangered because of plastic debris? Many of them ingest or are entangled by these plastic materials.
